Description
Today, SAR radars have become indispensable in detection-diagnosis-recognition. SAR technology has emerged with the combination of the most advanced radar technologies with image generation and processing techniques. It is very difficult and costly, if not impossible, to reach (raw) signals obtained from real SAR radars for algorithm developers in the rendering layer. Another challenge for those working on diagnostic libraries and algorithms using SAR images is that the SAR images that can be purchased are too generic and images of desired military platforms or structures are not available. EM-SAR is a simulator designed to meet these challenges. The main inputs of the simulator are the computer aided design (BDT; CAD) model of the platform for which the SAR image is requested, the defining features of the radar and the model sight angles of the radar. Using this information, EM-SAR performs a full electromagnetic analysis with geometric and physics optics rules and produces the following types of outputs.
- Raw (IQ or video) signals from radar
- SAR image created with instant Doppler approach
- SAR image to be obtained when using an algorithm with a point spread function (PSF)
- SAR image to be obtained by simple FFT-based Doppler tomography method
- SAR image to be obtained by the back-projection method.
EM-SAR can be delivered as a DLL library or with a user interface.
