R&D support decision by TÜBİTAK TEYDEB for our project titled “Development of Ship Engine Room Training Simulator and Simulator Design Software”
Ship room operation trainings can be provided cheaper and more efficiently with simulators. In this way, problems can be modeled and their solution taught effectively. Especially in the last 10-15 years, engine room training simulators developed in countries such as the USA, Japan, Russia, Poland and Norway have been widely used in institutions providing both military and civil maritime training in the world.
There is a need for a domestic engine room training simulator that can compete with its international counterparts in Turkey. Meeting this need will greatly contribute to the country’s economy, military power and maritime education. In addition to the fact that military simulators are more costly, it is clear that domestic production is strategically important. Providing the training of the domestic warships produced with the domestic simulator is important in terms of confidentiality, it will contribute to the national defense by increasing the operational success and to the economy in terms of preventing the current account deficit.
In this project, a domestic engine room training simulator applicable to commercial and military ships, capable of simulating ship engine room and auxiliary systems, and a simulator design program to simulate all kinds of ships will be developed. In the project, a flexible infrastructure will be created where the machine and system parameters can be changed with dynamic system design, and it will be ensured that the developed modules can be applied to different machines and systems of different ships.
