EMSAR Teydeb Destek Kararı
The decision to support our project titled “EM-SAR: ELECTROMAGNETIC SAR SIMULATOR” by TÜBİTAK TEYDEB.
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a radar system that emulates the largest antenna and arc aperture surface in the flight path of an air platform.
With the EM-SAR: Electromagnetic SAR Simulator Project, software that generates the SAR image of a platform given a 3D computer aided design (CIS) model will be developed. SAR, which is frequently used in military imaging and remote sensing applications, provides important information for target detection and identification. SAR imaging is an expensive process in terms of installation and operating costs, as it requires serious investments (SAR devices, their installation on air platforms, etc.) and flight is required for image acquisition. Current versions of similar software that produces SAR images from the CIS model are not allowed to be sold abroad due to the export laws of the countries where they were developed (USA, Italy). With this software to be developed, a national software that produces simulated SAR images that can be used especially in R&D activities will be revealed.
The outputs of the EM-SAR software will be SAR images or intermediate data that can be used to obtain these images. Creating a SAR image requires complex processing steps, and the techniques used to create images vary. The software to be developed will not only be limited to creating a SAR image, but will also be able to present the radar signal information used in the creation of the image to the user.
